LEATHER TEAM HARNESS

These three pictures above show our draft horse team harness made of bio-plastic material in the new "granite" finish. Leather harness looks very similar to this synthetic harness - you can't really tell a difference from four feet back.

This leather team harness is made of high quality black harness leather, with good workmanship and solid hardware. Comes complete with tubular steel (black painted, chrome or brass hame balls) hames. Will fit from 1600 to2100lb. horses. Available in solid brass or chrome brass hardware. Traces are 3-ply 1 3/4” . Along with getting a harness that fits your horses, we also make sure that you get a harness with the kind of custom features (features that all harnesses should have, but few do) that greatly increase the safety, convenience, and appearance of using your team throughout the life of your harness. Our lines supplied with a new team harness are made of beta material, a seamless, grip-enhancing material that is much stronger than leather. These team lines feature longer than normal stub lines (or “coupling lines”) to prevent the stub line buckle from hanging up in the hame rings. These lines also have buckle ends instead of snaps for greatly increased safety. (We are happy to supply leather lines instead of beta if that is your preference.) Our harnesses are made with loops in the end of the pole straps for the belly band to pass through, which greatly improves the looks and safety of using your team. New for 2003, our harnesses are all being made with buckle and billet adjustment on the straps above the britchen, instead of the conway buckles that most harness makers provide. Buckle and billet adjustment is usually seen only on harness costing much more. It makes britchen adjustment much easier, something you'll appreciate if you've ever experienced how it goes with conway adjustment! Collars are not included.

SINGLE DRAFT HORSE SIZE LEATHER HARNESS

This harness is the same as the above team harness except it is for one draft horse, with single driving lines made of your choice of leather or beta. This price doesn't include collars or holdback straps for hitching to carts.

BIO-PLASTIC HARNESS

This harness is made of polyurethane coated webbing that has a very attractive leather look finish called "granite", yet is very durable and strong with a thousand pound per inch breaking strength. Harness above is bio-plastic in "granite". We can still get this harness in shiny "patent" finish also, which some people really like. Both finishes stay flexible in cold weather and will not crack or harden from cold or hot weather. Cleans very well with soap and water. It is light weight but is not abrasive to animals.

Quarter Horse Size Leather Team Harness

Same style as leather draft horse harness except made for 900 to 1300 lb. horses and mules. 11/2” traces, 1” back and hip straps and lines. 11/4” pole strap and breast strap, 1 1/8” quarter straps. Made of high quality black harness leather, with all of the above described Bowers Farm modifications that make a nice difference. Collars not included.
